Arun Venkataraman
Arun Venkataraman is the Director of Policy at the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration. In that capacity, on behalf of the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, he helps develop and coordinate the position of the U.S. Department of Commerce on the full range of international trade policy issues affecting U.S. business, including with respect to bilateral dialogues, U.S. free trade agreement negotiations, and Congressional consideration of trade-related measures.
Prior to this post, Mr. Venkataraman served in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), first as Associate General Counsel, where he litigated WTO disputes addressing Chinese and European subsidies and advised on the negotiation and implementation of free trade agreements. Mr. Venkataraman then served as USTR Director for India, where he led the development and implementation of U.S.-India trade policy. He has also served as a Legal Officer advising the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Venkataraman obtained his law degree from the Columbia University School of Law and his Master of Arts from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
