Laurent Ruessmann

Laurent Ruessmann heads Fieldfisher’s International Trade practice within the EU and Regulatory Team and is a member of the firm’s Supervisory Board.

With over 25 years of experience, he is highly esteemed in the profession and a recognised key expert in the area of international trade by the leading bar publications such as Chambers & Partners, Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal.

Laurent assists clients in a broad range of international trade and customs issues – including administrative procedures, negotiations and litigation in relation to trade defence and trade preference matters – and other market-access regulatory issues for both products and services under EU and Member State legislation, as well as under the WTO and other international agreements.

In market-access regulatory matters, Laurent has particular experience with product safety, eco-design, intellectual property rights, life sciences and environmental law matters, including chemicals regulations, as well as with data privacy. Before joining Fieldfisher, Laurent was the head of the EU international trade team at Crowell & Moring and before that at Sidley Austin.
