Mari Shimizu

ShimizuMari Shimizu is a dispute settlement lawyer of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. She is specialized in international economy law and her work include representing various WTO dispute settlement cases, conducting the rules negotiation, and providing legal analysis and advices for matters relating to trade, investment and any other issues under international economy law.

Prior to joining METI in 2013, she was in a private practice dealing mainly with corporate and finance law at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune from 2008 to 2013 (including at Mitsubishi Corporation from 2012 to 2013 as a secondee) and an adjunct lecturer at the University of Tokyo in 2011.  Ms. Shimizu obtained an LL.B (2004) and a J.D. (2006) from the University of Tokyo and an LL.M (2012) from New York University School of Law. She is admitted as an attorney-at-law in Japan and the New York State.
