Naboth van den Broek

van_den_broek_naboth_loMr. van den Broek is an international lawyer and strategic advisor. He is one of the lead partners in the International Trade, Investment and Market Access group at WilmerHale and has practiced law in Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, London, and Washington DC.  He was twice named a ‘rising star’ in the international trade area byLaw360 and was named an inaugural Transatlantic Rising Star for his work on WTO, TTIP, and other trade issues by The American Lawyer/Corporate Counsel.

Mr. van den Broek has represented WTO Member governments, companies, and associations in more than three dozen WTO disputes, and has also advised clients under NAFTA rules and other bilateral and regional frameworks, in legal challenges before the EU Member State authorities, the European Commission and the European Court of Justice, and in the context of international arbitration proceedings.  Apart from his dispute settlement practice, Mr. van den Broek also provides clients with cross-practice strategic and policy advice in the area of international economic relations in general.  He acts as strategic and legal counsel to a coalition of large energy and technology companies; has advised companies and governments in a range of bilateral and multilateral negotiations; and advises individual companies and associations on market access and other complex legal and strategic challenges around the world.

Mr. van den Broek was educated at Leiden University (The Netherlands), the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms Universität (Bonn), the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Paris), and Georgetown University Law Center in Washington DC where he was a Fulbright student and fellow of the Institute of International Economic Law.  He is an Adjunct Professor of International Trade & Investment Law at Georgetown University Law Center and a Senior Distinguished Fellow at the Institute for International Economic Law (IIEL).
