William H. Barringer
William Barringer is a partner in the International Trade group at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle. He represents numerous foreign governments, foreign companies, multinational companies, and trade associations in the full range of issues arising under U.S. trade law, bilateral and plurilateral agreements, and the WTO agreement.
He has also advised foreign governments on WTO negotiations (the Uruguay Round and the Doha Round), bilateral and plurilateral trade negotiations, as well as compliance with obligations under existing agreements. Mr. Barringer has an international clientele which includes interests in China, Brazil, Vietnam, Japan, Canada, Thailand, Malaysia, Europe and the United States. He has advised the Governments of China, Vietnam, Japan and Brazil on disputes before the World Trade Organization involving trade remedies, market access, competition policy, investment policy, and matters arising under various of the other WTO agreements.
Mr. Barringer is ranked as a leading International Trade lawyer in both the US and in the Asia-Pacific region by Chambers Global, Chambers Asia-Pacific and Chambers USA. Chambers writes that the “widely respected” Mr. Barringer is described as “one of the best trade lawyers in town” and that his “wealth of experience in this field includes a long track record in handling Chinese trade cases, for which he is well known in the region.” He is also recommended for his work in International Trade by Legal 500 USA.
Mr. Barringer holds a J.D. and LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, and a B.A. from Brown University.
